Rancho Cielo Campus Closure Information
Dear Friends,
The health and safety of Rancho Cielo students, families, staff, and volunteers is our priority. We have been following the guidance and directives from the local, state, and national health departments to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). As of today, March 13, 2020, there are no confirmed cased of COVID-19 in Monterey County and we would like to do our part to help keep it that way.
Following the lead of the Monterey County Office of Education, which earlier today announced county-wide school closures, we would like to announce the following:
- John Muir Charter School (Drummond Culinary Academy, Rancho Cielo Construction Academy and Ag Mechanics & Electrical) is canceling classes starting Monday, March 16th through the end of spring break April 3rd. Students will return to campus starting Monday, April 6th.
- The Monterey County Office of Education (Silver Star Youth Program) is canceling classes starting Monday, March 16th through Tuesday, March 31st. Students will return to campus starting Wednesday, April 1st.
Program staff will be contacting students and families and will make packets available for students that wish to continue their work from home.
Out of an abundance of caution, Rancho Cielo will also close the Dining Room for Friday Night Dinners on March 20th and March 27th. We expect to restart dinner service on April 3rd. The Drummond Culinary Academy Dining Room will be open tonight, March 13.
Rancho Cielo will remain open. This does not impact our Youth Corps or Transitional Housing programs.
During these two weeks, we will reassess any need to extend the closure.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation as we put the health and safety of our families and communities first.
Thank you,
Susie Brusa, CEO
