It’s an evening of fun\, food and libations with a Western flair\, including an exciting raffle and live auction. \nProceeds from the event benefit the culinary program at Rancho Cielo\, where the students have a pathway to earning their high school diploma while gaining hands-on culinary training and earning industry certifications. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a one-of-a-kind culinary event to support Rancho Cielo’s Drummond Culinary Academy! \nOur annual Taste of Markon event features celebrated Markon-member chefs from around the world working with up-and-coming culinary students to provide a delectable—and interactive—dining experience that will excite your palate and warm your heart. \nTickets are limited and include hors d’oeuvres and wine\, followed by a strolling dinner. \n\nUNFORGETTABLE PARTNERSHIPS\nInspired by the work of the Drummond Culinary Academy and Chef EJ Jimenez’s leadership\, the Markon Cooperative Produce Company brings over 30 Member Chefs from all over the world to mentor and cook with Rancho Cielo students each year. \nThe chefs meet with our students in small groups to provide advice and inspiration. This collaboration has raised over $60\,000 since 2021 and over 300 DCA students have participated since the partnership began. \nThe opportunity for our students to work with such great chefs during a ‘real-life’ dinner service is priceless. DESCRIPTION:Rancho Cielo’s Veggie Box & BBQ fundraiser makes a significant impact in helping sustain the vocational training for our students while also feeding families in need. Purchase boxes for yourself or donate boxes to families in need via the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County\, Salvation Army Salinas\, The Food Bank for Monterey County and Second Harvest Food Bank. \nThe week-long event concludes with a delicious BBQ lunch prepared on-site by volunteers and our culinary team. Lunches are available by pre-order only and sell out fast. Enjoy our beautiful grounds\, or take it to go. \nImpact\n \nOur Veggie Boxes and BBQ Fundraiser has grown bigger than ever thanks to the support of our generous community — from our local business sponsors and agricultural donors to individuals and groups volunteering to help. \nAll produce is locally grown and donated by growers and shippers across the Salinas Valley and Watsonville—100% of the proceeds go back to Rancho Cielo’s programs and support our youth. \nWhat’s in the boxes amounts to much more than healthy food options; it’s a taste of our home—what has been referred to as the “Salad Bowl of the World.” Contents may include everything from strawberries and lettuce to artichokes and Brussels sprouts—each a symbol of the region’s agricultural backbone. \nHundreds of volunteers work together like a well-oiled machine to assemble the veggie boxes; the demand has now grown to more than 10\,000. It’s an impressive effort that has a tremendous and unifying impact on the greater community. \nVolunteers connect with and support our Rancho Cielo community while building community amongst themselves. Simultaneously\, they help feed Monterey County and beyond every time a veggie box is created and donated to someone in need. \nPromote healthy living\, connect with others and give back to the community and our youth—everyone wins.
